Description

“All physical objects exist in three dimensions. Everything has a width, everything has a height, and everything has a depth… Our entire physical universe follows these rules.”

– Steven Hawking

I: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd dimensions… Length, Width, Height.
This movement focus on the three tangible dimensions that we can see. These dimensions can be represented visually through drill, choreography, and gestures. The added narration in the voice of Steven Hawking makes this even more obvious and impactful to your audience.

II: 4th Dimension… Time.
There are more dimensions besides length, width, and height, but we cannot see them. The fourth dimension is time. In the second movement, time is represented by actually manipulating time in the music. Time is manipulated through rallentando, accelerando, polyrhythms, and rhythmic modulations. To make it even more effective, epic clock ticking sounds will fill the room in this movement and add a layer of Music GE to take the whole concept up a notch.

III: Beyond the 4th dimension.
Beyond the 4th dimension, physicists theorize there could be up to 10 dimensions, possibly even more. In these higher dimensions, some physicists believe the laws of physics go out the window and that anything is possible. This movement is the most energetic, uplifting, and over the top, allowing you to feature multiple soloists, sections, and bring the production to a climactic finish. Though not necessary, the use of props or stages for the last big impact would really bring the house down.

This show was commissioned for George Ranch High School in 2020 and was scheduled to compete at WGI finals. Unfortunately, the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the show did not get to compete at finals, and therefore has never been to WGI finals.
