Description
“up, up the long delirious, burning blue.”
“Up In The Air” is a super fun show that is going to be an absolute hit with your performers and audience! A beautifully coordinated yet simple musical and visual adventure that depicts the experience of preparing for takeoff, soaring through the air, and then landing safely.
The second movement contains a poem called “High Flight” by John Gillespie Magee Jr., a World War II Anglo-American Royal Canadian Air Force fighter pilot and poet. “‘High Flight’ has been a favorite poem amongst both aviators and astronauts. It is the official poem of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Royal Air Force and has to be recited from memory by fourth class cadets at the United States Air Force Academy.”
“Up In The Air” was originally commissioned by the Temple City HS Percussion Ensemble (Temple City, CA) for the winter of 2013.
