Description
Blast off to a chrome-plated tomorrow!
In the Year 2000 reimagines the future through 1950s rose-tinted goggles—rocket packs, robot butlers, and an always-snarky narrator at the helm. Each “miracle invention” hilariously misfires: a Mind-Control Remote triggers dance breaks, the Food‑a‑nator 5000 becomes a snack cannon, the Fashion‑o‑matic delivers chaos couture. As mishaps crescendo into a Rube Goldberg-style climax, the Fido‑Translator finally works—revealing the narrator was the family dog all along.
Nostalgic grooves, sharp humor, and kinetic staging make this a crowd-pleaser from lift-off to bark.
“The Year 2000!” was originally commissioned for Temple City HS (Temple City, CA) for the winter of 2025 and received the Bronze Medal in SCPA A Class and was a WGI A Class finalist.
