Description
“Live life as though nobody is watching and express yourself as though everyone is listening.” – Nelson Mandela
We fear to express ourselves, to avoid criticism, and self doubt. Funny thing is we’re never alone in this corner. Wanting to display our feelings, expression and find our inner peace, we struggle. We are afraid. This show concept is about expression, discovery, transformation and unity.
The scene takes place at night once you think everyone is asleep. High above on rooftops and through the empty streets we find ourself and each other.
Mvt. 1
Everyone is asleep but a certain few. Those members come out onto the set to play/ perform as if no one else is around watching but it starts a chain reaction for others.
Mvt. 2
The dance when we sleep. The unconscious where everything is limitless and possible. It looks and feels slightly timid but hints there’s something beautiful hidden; about to blossom.
Mvt.3
Full transformation and confidence discovered through the individual as well as the community. Self expression is when you’re the most true and at peace.
“When No One Is Watching” was commissioned for La Quinta High School for their 2019 WBA Season.
